jr-rockerz (ages 8-11)
Jr Rockerz gives young musicians the experience of playing in a real band while building their individual musical skills.
Jr Rockerz gives young musicians the experience of playing in a real band while building their individual musical skills.
Each student has a dedicated role in the band, with groups typically including one or two singers, guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. Students work on their own parts while learning how to listen, communicate and play together as an ensemble.
No previous band experience is required. Students who are brand new to their instrument may be offered a complimentary introductory lesson to help them get started. Optional 4- or 6-lesson private lesson packs are also available for students who would benefit from additional individual support.
What They’ll Learn
Students develop music-reading skills, rhythm, timing and technique while learning songs as a band.
They learn how to follow a song from beginning to end, play their individual part, listen to the musicians around them, follow cues and understand how their part fits into the music as a whole.
Playing in a band also builds confidence, independence, teamwork and performance skills while giving young musicians a fun reason to keep learning and improving.
Band Video & Live Performance
During the semester, each band will record a performance video to share with family and friends and take a band photo.
At the end of the semester, Jr Rockerz bands will perform live in a fun and encouraging environment. Performing together gives students a goal to work toward and helps them build confidence on stage while celebrating everything they have accomplished as a band.
